SUMMARY

The Household of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall is seeking a Deputy Communications Secretary to join the Communications Team.  The role will involve liaising with UK and international media on behalf of Their Royal Highnesses and supporting Their official work, including engagements, and Their charitable work, both domestically and overseas.  

JOB DESCRIPTION

To help support the Communications Secretary in leading the Clarence House Communications team on all aspects of communications across different platforms; including digital and mainstream media; events and engagements; and presenting the contribution of TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall to national and international life.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Main duties will include devising and implementing a strategic approach to communicating the work of Their Royal Highnesses, with the Communications Secretary and will be expected to lead on major projects, engagements and campaigns; have an innovative approach to social media and building proactive working partnerships with relevant external stakeholders.  

Leading on the day-to-day press office operations of the Household and play an active role in press briefings and enquiries, statements or press notices, working reactively and proactively to manage the daily news flow to the media and other digital communication platforms.  

The Deputy Communications Secretary will have responsibility for instigating special media events, and will help oversee the representation of TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall on all official Clarence House and digital communication platforms, mostly in relation to the Commonwealth, International relations, Faith and BAME media.  

CANDIDATE CRITERIA 

Applicants should have considerable experience in high-profile press office environments and previous line management experience, with the ability in preparing and leading strategic communication campaigns and their implementation.  Sound working knowledge of all media platforms and integrated communications planning, in addition to social media practice.  The ability to make decisions while exercising judgement is also an essential requisite for the job.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of diversity issues and of the diversity of communities in the United Kingdom, in the Commonwealth and worldwide.
