SUMMARY

The Household of The Prince and Princess of Wales supports the official and charitable work of The Prince and Princess.  This is an exciting opportunity to join the Household in support of The Prince and Princess and the wider Household.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties will include assisting the Private Secretaries and Assistant Private Secretaries in the development of Their Royal Highnesses' official programmes and working creatively with the team to shape, plan and implement a wide variety of visits, ranging from formal State occasions to more imaginative engagements based around Their Royal Highnesses’ thematic areas. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To assist the Private Secretary and Assistant Private Secretary in the development of Her Royal Highness’s official programme and to aid the scheduling of engagements and coordination of Her Royal Highness’s official calendar with the Diary Manager and Events and Visits Team;
  • To support the Events and Visits Team in managing the 6 monthly diary planning process and engagement planning meetings, both internally and externally;
  • To act as engagement/tour manager and lead on operational planning for particular engagements and overseas tours for The Prince and Princess on behalf of the Private Secretary and Assistant Private Secretary; including all internal and external processes, administration and logistics involved in an engagement or tour from inception to delivery; carrying out recces and advancing and running the engagement on the ground;
  • To act as the primary point of contact for all organisations and internal stakeholders involved in the planning and execution of the engagement or tour;
  • To prepare high quality, accurate written programmes and engagement briefs for senior members of staff;

CANDIDATE CRITERIA

Essential:

  • University degree and/or relevant equivalent work experience;
  • Experience of researching into and progressing projects;
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of people and to develop excellent working relationships;
  • High level of written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent organisational skills;
  • Experience of logistics, engagement planning and administrative processes;
  • Pro-active, flexible and professional approach;
  • High level of attention to detail;
  • Ability to use own initiative;
  • A genuine interest in the work of Their Royal Highnesses, and the ability to act as an ambassador for them;
  • Discreet and able to maintain confidentiality at all times;
  • Proven ability to prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines, often under considerable pressure, and remain calm;
  • Advanced IT and good secretarial skills (word processing, spreadsheets and databases);
  • Willing and able to travel within the UK.

Desirable:

  • Full UK driving licence;
  • Experience of drafting business correspondence and briefs.
